“If you never failed, you have never lived”, is how the saying goes. Failure is one of the aspects of life most people are afraid of and to be honest; it was one of my worst fears as well. I struggled a lot because of the fear of failure, as I was always afraid of the outcome of my actions and their negative results for my life in the future!
During my high school years, I partied a lot, and I didn’t have the best grades. Due to that, I almost got flunked out, and I still remember those days and nights where I was crying because my results weren’t good enough to study the subject I am studying at the moment. Now, a few years later, I am so happy that I kind of failed back then, because if not, I could have never gained my London experiences and I would not be the person I am today!
It was a painful experience, and I did indeed cry a lot of tears, like whenever I failed something, but those unpleasant experiences and feelings helped me to do it better in the future and to avoid similar mistakes.
The truth is that everyone has failed and everyone will fail again! When people are successful, we focus on their success because they are people we kind of looking up to, and due to that, we often forget that successful people have struggled and failed as well. They just didn’t stop after it but instead stood up and tried again and again.
While we only see the bright side of life, the years of hard work and failing are the most inspiring and motivational stories such as Steve Jobs and Walt Disney.
So as you can see, failure is not a step backwards; it is an excellent stepping stone to success because it is an essential part of our journey. After so many years of struggling, I learned that there is no reason to be afraid of failure because if we don’t learn to move out of our comfort zone, we will never overcome our fear of failure and life begins at the end of our comfort zone!
There are still so many things to learn and the most valuable lessons we do learn from our own mistakes. So “don’t worry about failures, worry about the chances you miss when you don’t even try.” (Jack Canfield)
I realised for myself that I had to let go of the fear of failure because it always had held me back and thanks to that I can deal with disappointments better. Of course, it is still painful, but you will get resilient and with this ability, you can bound back quickly and keep going! I do believe that with failure, persistence, and dedication to my goals, my dreams will come true!
All in all from failure you will gain valuable experiences and knowledge. You will get more resilient and will grow due to that. So don’t be too hard on yourself, just try your best and never give up!
After all, without failure, how sweet would success be?
“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them!”
– Walt Disney
